Our 60A Full Power Transformer/Distro provides 7500 Watts of power in a single 120v circuit
from the new Honda EU6500i Generator
Hello ,
Our 60A Full Power Transformer/Distro is compatible with generators other than our modified 7500W Honda EU6500is Generator. The only difference is that you will not have the benefit of the additional 2000W output
of our modified Honda EU6500is Generators. We obtain this additional output by "tapping" power that is built into the EU6500is by Honda for foreign 240V markets and then step it down to 120V with our
Transfer/Distro to give you the full power capacity of the generator in a single 60A/120V circuit. You can use our 60A Full Power Transformer/Distro with an unmodified Honda EU6500is or an AVR genrerator, but you will
only be able to access the power available in the North American models of these generators (5500W). Still, there is considerable benefit to having that power available in a single circuit. You will still be able to run
bigger lights, like 4k HMIs or Quartz 5ks , or more smaller lights than you could without it. Our 60A Full Power Transformer/Distro offers many benefits no matter what generator it is used with - including the following:
Allow me to quickly summarize a few of these benefits (use the links above for more detailed explanations.) Regardless of the generator, our Transformer/Distro greatly simplifies set electrics. By stepping down the
240V power output of a generator, our 60A Full Power Transformer/Distro give you access to the full power
of the generator in a single large 120V circuit that is capable of running larger lights than the generator could without it. Part of the reason, that our modified Honda EU6500is is
capable of handling additional load is because it is a perfectly balanced load. A generator that you pick up locally will likewise be capable
of handling a greater load when it is perfectly balanced by our Full Power Transformer/Distros.

A sunny feel is created on an overcast day by a Honda EU6500is powering the new M40 4kw HMI ArriMax and a M18 1800W ArriMax for a commercial.
By automatically splitting the load of whatever you plug into it evenly over the two legs of the generator, our 60A Full Power Transformer/Distro also enables you to operate more smaller lights on a generator than
you could without it. Without our 60A Transformer/Distro you can never fully utilize the available power of a portable generator because the load of a light has to go on one circuit/leg of the generator or the other.
For example, when plugging lights into the power outlet panel of a Honda EU6500is Generator, you reach a point where you can't power an additional 1kw light because there is not 8.4 amps available on either one of the factory installed 20A outlets/leg of the generator. With our 60A Full Power Transformer/Distro you can still add that 1kw light because our
60A Full Power Transformer/Distro splits the load evenly over the two legs (4.2A/leg) of the generator.
Finally, our 60A Full Power Transformer/Distro greatly simplifies your set electrics regardless what generator it is used with. As long as you plug in through our 60A Full Power Transformer/Distro you no longer have to
carefully balance the load over the generator's two 120V circuit/legs. Now that you are able to fully load the generator in a perfectly balanced fashion with the help of our 60A Full Power Transformer/Distro, you are
able to power larger lights, or more smaller lights, than you could without it.

Voltage boost in the transformer enables the generator to be operated at a distance, inside the grip van, where it won't be heard.
To record sync sound without picking up the noise of louder open frame AVR generators, our Full Power Transformer/Distros enable you to operate a generator further from set (where it won't be heard) without suffering severe Line Loss.
Our heavy-duty 250V twist-lock extension cable enables you to run 200' - 300' of cable between the
generator and our Full Power Transformer/Distro on set. This is usually enough cable to place the generator around the corner of a building, or to run it out of a van or truck - which is usually all the additional blimping
you need with portable generators. Our heavy-duty 250V twist-lock cable eliminates multiple cable runs to the generator and minimizes the Line-Loss (voltage drop) you would have using standard
electrical cords. To assure full line level (120V) on set, our Full Power Transformer/Distros are designed to compensate for the inevitable slight line loss you will have over an extended cable run. That is, they are designed
to slightly boost the voltage on the load side (secondary). For instance, if you were to plug our standard (non-select) Transformer/Distro directly into the generator and feed the supply side (primary) of the transformer with 240 volts
from the generator, 127 volts would come out on the secondary side where you plug in the lights. This slight boost compensates for the slight line loss that is unavoidable over a long cable run and enables you to place the
generator further from set where you won't hear it, yet assures that the supply voltage on the secondary side of the transformer does not drop too low (use this link for more details.)

"Select" Models allow you to adjust for line-loss to maintain 120V on set
Another upgrade available on our "Select" model of Transformer/Distros is a supply voltage selection switch ($295.00.) A primary selector switch enables you to adjust the amount of voltage boost in two 5% steps. This enables
you to maintain full line level (120Vs) regardless if the supply voltage has dropped to 228V, or even 216V, from line loss and load running on the generator. To find the optimum switch setting, our "Select" Transformer/Distros
have a built-in voltmeter that tells you if the line level is too low or too high. Maintaining full line level assures that lights will draw their minimum load and that HMIs with electronic ballasts
will not cut out from a dip in voltage during the striking phase. It also assures that lights, like the new Arri 1800W Baby Max, that operate at the threshold of a 20A circuit will operate reliably (use this link for more details.)

A 100A GFCI Shock Block can provide ground fault protection for an entire distribution system
consisting of Bates Extensions, Bates Splitters, and Bates-to-Edison Break-Out Boxes
But that's not all, when used with a 100A GFCI, our 60A Full Power Transformer/Distro brings the Honda EU6500is generator into full OSHA compliance (like most portable gas generators, it does not meet OSHA requirements for
use on work sites otherwise.) Use this link for a detailed explanation of OSHA
requirements and why almost all portable generators do not meet them.
As you can see, our 60A Full Power Transformer/Distro offers a lot of benefits regardless whether the generator is modified or not.
Our 60A Full Power Transformer/Distro also enables you to access more power on location from common 240v household outlets as well (use this link for details.) Adapters are available ($74.95@) for common 240V
sources found on interior locations - including Range Plugs, Dryer Plugs, and special receptacles installed for Window Air Conditioners. By giving you access to more "house power" through common
240V household outlets, our 60A Full Power Transformer/Distro can eliminate the need for dangerous tie-ins or expensive tow generators.

Right: 4Kw and 1800W HMI ballasts powered from Transformer/Distro.
The 60A Transformer/Disro alone, without the Honda EU6500is Generator, sells for $1495.00. Regardless of what generator you use, you will still need the Four Pin-to-Three Pin Twist-lock adapter ($74.95). Since our
Transformer/Distros feature voltage boost (either fixed or selectable) to compensate for line loss over long cable runs, you can use 200' - 300' of cable between the
generator and the transformer distro without appreciable voltage drop - so you may want to purchase more than just one 50' 250V Twist-lock Extension. There are two accessories available for transporting the 60A
Transformer/Distro that you should consider. The options are an accessory Hand-truck ($174.95) or a Sled ($99.95) (see photos below).

Complete system consists of 60A Full Power Transformer Distro, one or more 50' 240V Extension Cable,
Transformer-to-240V Outlet Adapter, plus Transformer Hand Truck or Sled
For secondary side distribution, you should consider either upgrading with our accessory 20A Edison Break-out Box ($395.00) or purchasing a
distribution package consisting of 60A Siamese Splitters, 60A Extensions, and 60A-to-Edison Snack boxes ($1,439.70) if you do not have them already or they are not available from your local rental house (see below for more
details.)
You should also consider our Extended Run Fuel Tanks ($199.95 or $499.95.) They eliminate the potential fire hazard in
refueling a hot generator by eliminating the need to refuel the generator during the course of a production day. A modification is required to the generator ($345.00) to use external fuel tanks. Use this link f
or details on the safety benefits of using our Extended Run Fuel Tank.
Where our standard 60A Full Power Transformer/Distro has only one 60A Bates receptacle on it (its designed to be used with additional 60A distro), to power anything more than one large light you will need either the
optional 20A break-out box upgrade or additional distribution equipment. Our optional 20A break-out box ($395.00) is hard-wired to the bottom of the transformer and has three 20 Amp L5-20 U-Ground Edison outlets on three
20A circuits. This upgrade to our standard Transformer/Distro gives you convenient 20Amp outlets at the Transformer without additional distribution equipment.

Accessory 3 x 20 Amp Circuit Break-Out Box mounts under
the 60A Full Power Transformer/Distro
Alternatively, additional 60A GPC (Bates) extension cables, 60-to-60 Siamese (Splitters), and breakered 60A GPC-to-Edison Breakouts (snack boxes) will enable you to run power around your set - breaking out to 20A Edison
outlets at convenient points. The best part about our system is that no matter where in the distribution system you plug in, our Full Power Transformer/Distro automatically balances the additional load on the generator,
so that you don't have to. You simply plug lights in through our 60A Full Power Transformer/Distro until the load wattage displayed on the iMonitor of the generator control panel reaches 7500 Watts. An overload alarm on
the iMonitor display will tell you if you inadvertently overload the 60A Transformer/Distro.

A basic distro pkg. consists of 2-60A GPC (Bates) extensions, 2-60A Male-to-2 60 Female Siamese,
and 2-60A GPC-to-Edison Snack Boxes
A basic distro pkg. would consist of qty 2 60A GPC (Bates) extension cables, qty 2 60 Male-to- 2 60 Female Siamese (Splitters), and qty 2 breakered 60A GPC-to-Edison 3 circuit Snack boxes (shown in the photo below at a cost of $1,439.70.)
This distro pkg. will give you some flexibility when distributing power from the Transformer/Distro around set. If it is not in your budget to purchase additional distro equipment at this
time, you should order the Transformer/Distro with our optional 20A break-out box upgrade, or you can probably rent distro equipment from your local rental house. Your local rental house is not likely to have the high voltage
twist-lock extension cable to run between the generator and our 60A Full Power Transformer/Distro.
We are confident that you will be more than satisfied with the performance of our HD Plug & Play Pkg.. Harry Box, author of the authoritative trade handbook "Set Lighting Technician's Handbook" has endorsed our HD Plug & Play Gen-set in the just released 4th Edition of the handbook. In addition, he has established a link from the companion website for the 4th Edition of the Handbook, called "Box Book Extras" , to our company news letter article on
"Portable Generators in Motion Picture Production" (I have attached a copy of the link.) Of the article he exclaims:
"Great work!... this is the kind of thing I think very few technician's ever get to see,
and as a result many people have absolutely no idea why things stop working."
"Following the prescriptions contained in this article enables the operation of bigger lights, or more smaller lights,
on portable generators than has ever been possible before."

What earned Harry's endorsement is that our HD Plug & Play Gen-set is the first portable "movie blimped" generator/distro system to offer
7500W of power in a Single 120V circuit capable of, as Harry puts it,
"powering bigger lights, or more small lights, on a portable generator
than has ever been possible before." For example, our modified Honda
EU6500is inverter generator with 60A Full Power Transformer/Distro is
capable of simultaneously powering the new M40 4kw Arrimax HMI head, along with the new M!8 1800W Arrimax HMI head, of our HD P&P Pkg. Where the new M40 4kw Arrimax HMI head has the output and light quality of a 12Kw HMI
Fresnel, our HD Plug-n-Play Gen-set makes it possible to get good production values on bright day exteriors without the expense of large tow generators.

Our modified Honda EU6500is with our Transformer/Distro can power
the PFC 2.5 & 1.8 HMI Arrimaxs, PFC 400w
Lighthouse HMI,
2 ParaBeam 400, 2 ParaBeam 200s, and 2 Tegra 400s of our HD P&P Pkg.
If you were to swap out the 4k globe for a 2.5K globe in the M40 Arrimax head, our HD Plug-n-Play Gen-setis capable of powering the equivalent of a 4k, 1800w, 400w Pars, plus a couple of Kino Flo Parabeam 400s, Parabeam
200s, and Tegra 400s. Given the light sensitivity of HD Cameras, this constitutes a complete interior daylight or exterior night location lighting package for HD Digital Cinema productions.
