The ultimate key light, or reflected product highlight, our Chimera 5'x10' F2 Soft Box is ready and waiting in our studio. It's already built, so it goes up quickly. It can be lamped with hot quartz lights or strobes without the need for custom speed-rings.
Our F2 is also super portable for location work as well. Its component inner frame consists of 3' x 1.5" tubing and polycarbonate joints. Everything, including the reflector and diffusion screen, fit in one duffel bag and assembles quickly with just an allen wrench (also included).
In the studio or on-location, our 5'x10' F2 Soft Box can be easily suspended or supported with stands at each corner. Rigged overhead it provides broad, clean, continuous, soft highlights which make it ideal for large product photography.
It can also serve as a high soft frontal key for a group in white limbo (see production stills at left); or, as an even frontal key for an individual who has to walk and talk.
Standing on the floor, the translucent light produced by Chimera F2 offers natural, window-like light that wraps around your subject, making it perfect for soft portraiture modeling of on-camera talent. Yet, it is more easily controlled than any other large soft source.
Lights, preferably bare-tube strobe, or wide-beam open-faced tungsten or HMI sources, mount on 5/8" baby pins. The soft silver reflective lining of the F2 Light Box makes it an extremely efficient light source. Just four 1kw Mole Nook or Tota Lights will give an exposure of f5.6 at 10' with a video camera or film rated 320 ASA at a 1/50th of a second.
